Spruce Ridge Hair Studio
Stylist finishing a long blow-dry with a round brush in a softly lit salon

Four chairs · by appointment

Cut clean.Coloured slowly.

A small studio built around long appointments: one stylist, one head of hair, and enough time to get the shape and the tone right in a single visit.

Inside the studio

A quiet room, four chairs, no double-booking

Every chair is held for one guest at a time. Cuts are booked for an hour, colour work for two to four hours depending on the service, and nobody is moved to a basin to make room for the next appointment.

A first visit starts with fifteen minutes of consultation at the mirror — dry hair, natural light, honest talk about what your hair will hold and how much upkeep you actually want. If a service needs more time than booked, we say so before we start rather than halfway through.

How a colour visit runs

Four stages, start to finish

Colour appointments are long by design. Here is the order of the day so you know when you will be in the chair, at the basin, or free to read.

  1. 01

    Consultation

Dry hair at the mirror. We look at your colour history, pick a tone you can maintain, and run a strand test when lightener is involved.

  2. 02

    Mapping

Sections are planned before anything is mixed — where the lift starts, how soft the root shadow sits, and which pieces stay untouched.

  3. 03

    Processing

Application, then development checked every ten minutes. Bring a book or a laptop; there is a shelf, a socket and plenty of tea.

  4. 04

    Toning & finish

Wash, tone, bond treatment if the ends need it, then the cut and a finish, plus a plan for how long the tone should hold.

Between visits

Three things that keep colour honest

Nothing to buy here — just what actually changes how long a service lasts.

Wash less, rinse cooler

Hot water opens the cuticle and lets tone drain out. Two or three washes a week in warm-not-hot water will hold a gloss noticeably longer than daily hot washing.

Heat needs a barrier

If tongs or a straightener are part of your week, use a heat protectant and keep the plates under 180°C. Most breakage we see on lightened hair comes from repeated high heat, not from the colour.

Tone fades before colour does

Warmth usually returns around week six while the lift itself still looks fine. A short gloss appointment resets it for a fraction of the time and cost of a full colour.

Who to book with

Ask for a stylist by name in your enquiry, or leave it to us and we will match the service to whoever has the right time and specialism that week.

Questions

Before you book

Do I need a patch test before colour?

Yes, for any tint or lightening service if it is your first colour visit with us or your last one was more than six months ago. It takes five minutes, needs to happen at least 48 hours before the appointment, and can be done any time the studio is open.

Can you cover grey completely?

We can. We will also talk you through blended coverage first, because a solid opaque result needs a root appointment every four to five weeks, while blending stretches comfortably to eight or nine and grows out without a hard line.

What happens if my hair needs more time than booked?

We tell you at consultation, before anything is mixed, and give you the revised time and price then. If the extra time is not available that day we will finish a safe stage and book the rest rather than rush the result.

Should I bring a reference photo?

Please do — two or three, including one you like and one you do not. Photos of hair in daylight are far more useful than filtered ones, and we will be straight with you about what your natural base and colour history can reach in one visit.

How late can I arrive?

Up to ten minutes and we will usually still complete the service. Beyond that the appointment may need to be shortened to the time remaining, because the chair after yours is held for someone else.

Do you cut children's hair?

Yes, from around age six, booked as a short-hair or trim appointment. It helps to choose an early slot when the studio is quieter, and a parent or guardian stays in the room for the whole appointment.

Booking enquiry

Tell us what you want doing

Send the service you have in mind and the days that suit you. We reply with two or three options, the honest time it will take, and a patch-test slot if the service needs one.

An enquiry is not a confirmed appointment — we hold the chair once you reply to the options we send back.
